What choices will I have at the end of my lease?

At the end of your lease, you have three options: 

Return your Vehicle

Mercedes-Benz of Milwaukee is here to help you choose a brand new Mercedes-Benz from our expanding inventory. The benefit of selecting a brand new vehicle after your lease expires is that you'll get your hands on all the latest features, including updates in performance, engine options, design, and technology. Our goal is to make the process as simple and straightforward as possible for you to return your current leased vehicle and select your next Mercedes-Benz.
  • Pro: Opens up the option to lease or finance a new vehicle with new features and updates.
  • Con: Responsible for upfront leasing fees and costs if you decide to lease a new car. 

Extend your Lease

If you'd like to keep your Mercedes-Benz a bit longer, you will need to extend your lease. At times you may want to extend your lease if you are waiting for the release of a new model. Simply speak to our knowledgeable team of financial experts, and they will assess your situation and provide you with the best options.
  • Pro: You have a car to drive as you wait for a new model to be released. 
  • Con: Certain restrictions may apply based on your situation. 

Pay Off Your Vehicle

If you decide that you would like to buyout your lease and purchase the vehicle, our friendly finance experts can walk you through the process. This decision is based on personal preference along with your current budget and the car's price.
  • Pro: If the car's value is greater than or same as the predicted amount, then this is a great option.
  • Con: If the car's value is less than the predicted amount, then this may not be the best option. 

What costs will I incur when I turn in my leased car?

If you are returning your vehicle at lease maturity, then you are responsible for:
  • Excess wear and tear
  • Fees and taxes
  • Excess mileage
  • Past due payments (if any)
If you return your Mercedes-Benz before lease maturity, then you will be responsible for:
  • Fees and taxes
  • Excess mileage
  • Remaining payments
  • Excess wear and tear
  • Past due payments (if any)

What is the credit card test for measuring car damage?

Often times, vehicle damage occurs to the exterior or interior fabric and trim. The test is simple: if the damage can be hidden with a credit card, it passes the test and is not chargeable damage. We have equally fair guidelines for tires, glass and a few others.

How do I know what I will need to repair before I return my leased car?

Before you return your vehicle, contact your Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a Pre-Inspection to prepare for your lease-end inspection. Here are just a few items that we will inspect before you return your leased vehicle:
  • Ensure that windows, windshield and all other glass, lenses or plastic shields are free of stars, cracks, holes and plugs.
  • Check to see if your vehicle is free of interior and exterior damage.
  • Inspect whether or not all of your tires are the same size.
  • Assess wear and tear of  sheet metal and frame.
  • See if your spare tire and rim are in the trunk.
  • Does your damage pass the credit card test?
